World Blood Donor Day 2022

World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on June 14 to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and to recognise volunteer, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving contributions.

The goal of the day is to encourage frequent blood donations so that everyone has access to economical and timely supply of safe blood in times of need.

Mexico will be the host country for World Blood Donor Day 2022. On June 14, 2022, Mexico City will host the global event.

"Donating blood is an act of unity," is the theme for World Blood Donor Day 2022. "Join the fight to save lives." Its goal is to raise awareness about the vital role that voluntary blood donors play in saving lives.

The topic is to emphasise the importance of year-round blood donations in order to maintain enough supplies and provide universal and prompt access to safe blood transfusions.

The goal of the day is to raise awareness about blood donation and blood products for transfusion, as well as the vital role that unpaid blood donors play in the health system.

The day also serves as a call to action for governments and national health authorities to ensure appropriate resources are available and to establish infrastructure to allow the collection of blood from unpaid, voluntary donors.
