Educational Qualification

On the date of notification, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a university recognised by the UGC or the government.

Age Limit

The candidates must be at least 20 years old and not more than 30 years old as of July 1st of the notification year. The relaxation of the maximum age limit for various categories is as follows

1.Backward Class, Backward Class (Muslims), Most Backward Class/Denotified Community: 32 Years

2.Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Castes (Arunthathiyar), Scheduled Tribe: 35 Years

3.Transgender: 35 Years

4.Destitute Widow: 37 Years

5.Ex-servicemen/ex-personnel of the Central Paramilitary Forces (discharged from service within 3 years of notification date / Serving persons who are retiring within one year of the last date of receipt of application): 47 Years

6.Departmental candidate appearing for departmental quota exam: 47 Years

Communal Reservation

a.The following communal reservation will be followed as per existing rules and Government Order:

1.Open Competition: 31%

2.Backward Class: 26.5%

3.Backward Class (Muslim): 3.5%

4.Most Backward Class / Denotified Communitie: 20%

5.Scheduled Castes: 15%

6.Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyar): 3%

7.Scheduled Tribe: 1%

b.Community Certificates issued by TN Government only will be considered for communal reservation.

Special Quota

a.20% Reservation is provided for Departmental quota candidate.

b.10% Reservation is provided for Sports quota candidate.

20% Departmental Quota

Under the Departmental Quotas, Police Constable and Head Constable, as well as their comparable levels in the Taluk, Armed Reserve Police, and TN Special Police, can apply. As of the date of notice, they should have completed 5 year of service. A separate written examination for departmental quota will be held.

10% Sports Quota

Candidates applying under the 10% Sports Quota must meet all of the requirements for open candidates. In addition, the candidate must submit Form-I, Form-II, or Form-III for each of the 16 recognised games/sports for an event held within 5 years of the notification date.

5.20% PSTM PREFERENCE

On a preferred basis, 20% of all openings would be put aside for open candidates who studied in Tamil medium from 1st grade to first bachelor’s degree (qualifying degree).

Transgender

1. There is a 35-year age relaxation.

2. For the Physical Measurement Test, Endurance Test, and Physical Efficiency Test, transgender candidates may choose any gender, such as men or women, or as a third gender.

3. Transgender candidates will be treated the same as women candidates if they apply under the Third Gender category. They will be subject to the 30% reserve.

4. If transgender candidates present their community certificate, they will be eligible for communal reservation in the same way as normal candidates.

5. If a transgender candidate fails to provide their community certificate, they will be classified as a member of the Most Backward Class.

Application Fee

The fee for the examination is Rs.500/-. If a Police Departmental candidate applies for both open and departmental quotas, he or she must pay an examination fee of Rs.1000/-, which can be paid by cash challan or online payment.
