The Indian Navy (IN) has released an official notification and invites applications from unmarried male Indian Nationals for recruitment regarding the 2500 sailor recruitment posts in the AA & SSR category (AA stands for Artificer Apprentice and SSR stands for Sailors for Senior Secondary Recruits). IN is one of the four services of India’s Armed Forces which are Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. The Indian Navy, being the naval arm of the Armed Forces of India, maintains its supremacy and strategic prowess in the Indian Ocean region through regular deployment of ships, submarines and aircraft in defense of its maritime borders and also contributes to international peacekeeping efforts with active participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations.

  1. Sailors for Artificer Apprentice (AA) – 500 vacancies
  2. Sailors for Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) – 2000 vacancies

Pay scale

Pay & Benefits: During the first training term, a monthly stipend of 14,600/- will be available. They will be assigned to Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix after completing initial training (Rs.21,700- 69,100). They will also be paid MSP @ Rs.5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable) plus ‘X’ Group pay (only for Artificer Apprentice (AA) At Rs.3600/- per month plus DA (as applicable) as a trainee and Rs.6200/- per month plus DA upon successful completion of an AICTE recognised Diploma Course).

Promotion: Up to the level of Master Chief Petty Officer-I, i.e. Level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix (Rs.47,600- 1,51,100/-) plus MSP At 5200/- per month plus DA, there are opportunities for advancement (as applicable). Those who perform well and pass the appropriate examinations and clear the Services Selection Boards may be considered for advancement to commissioned officer.

Perquisites

(a) Sailors are provided with books, reading material, uniforms, food, and lodging as needed throughout their training and afterwards.

(b) Sailors have access to medical care, leave travel concessions for themselves and their dependents, Group Housing Benefits, and other benefits. Sailors are also entitled to Annual and Casual Leave, Education Allowances for their children, and House Rent Allowances. Pensions, gratuities, and leave encashment are all available after retirement. All privileges are granted in accordance with service conditions, and their eligibility/admissibility is governed by current and modified government directives.

Age limit

Candidates must have been born between August 1, 2002 and July 31, 2005. (Both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification

Sailors for Artificer Apprentice (AA) – Qualified in the 10+2 examination with 60 percent or higher in Maths and Physics, as well as at least one of the following subjects: – Boards of School Education recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in the subjects of chemistry, biology, and computer science.

Sailors for Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) – Passed the 10+2 examination with Math and Physics, as well as at least one of the following subjects: – Boards of School Education recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in the subjects of chemistry, biology, and computer science

Application Fees

The application can be uploaded at any of the country’s Common Service Centres (CSC) for a fixed price of Rs 60 + GST. This feature is completely optional.
